Creating a Vision

LIFE CREATES A VISION JOIN ME ON MY LIFE’S JOURNEY. I HOPE IT WILL INSPIRE YOU TO CREATE A VISION TO BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE IN YOUR LIFE TOO.

VISION:
The act or power of envisioning an idea or hope of how something should be done, or how it will be in the future

Leland is known by beauty editors as the legendary creative haircolor guru, the visionary pioneer, the scientific product development haircolor authority, and the thought leader on color. Born into a family of chemists, Leland was involved with haircolor at an early age. Throughout his career, he impacted change in the haircolor category, creating a generation of specialists, all while following his mission to discover “what should be that is not.”

Leland believes that a vision happens based on what you are exposed to. His travels around the world for
over 50 years introduced him to art and architecture. He’s interacted with trendsetters involved in both fashion and sports
to understand what makes them tick. Everywhere he visits, he discovers natural beauty and brilliant colors while contemplating how they could influence haircolor.

Leland’s affinity for color continues to be his passion and the inspiration behind his distinctive, curated
artwork collection, featuring some of the brightest color paintings from artists such as Damien Hirst,
Robert Raushenberg, Picasso and Andy Warhol.

His contrarian thinking attracted him to personality portraits created by renowned photographers, Richard Avedon and Annie Liebovitz, along with colorful but subdued paintings by Chinese artist, Zhang Xiaogang, considered the Picasso of China, contrasted by a black and white photograph from Irving Penn, used for a Vogue Christmas magazine cover and the eccentric portraits by Diane Arbus. Leland believes contrarian thinking is one of the pinnacles in developing a vision. “It comes from something I learned in finance, don’t invest your mind in what’s happening, invest your mind in what’s going to happen.”

His affinity for color, contrarian thinking, coupled with questioning, “what should be, that is not,” are the ethos fueling Leland’s vision and passion for what will become the re-modernization and future of fashion haircolor.
